This afternoon I got to go to the track at Hammond High School in Columbia (Howard County), Maryland to go for a nice easy run after the 10K prediction run I did on Thanksgiving and the two 5K races I ran on Friday and Saturday. It felt really nice and I thought it served it's purpose well. I felt like I was going fairly slow, and that helped me to keep it easy and not force myself to "push" myself to keep up some sorta pace (although I did notice that the second half of my run was slightly faster than the first part of it). I think I was slowed up by having to use the bathroom for a good portion of the run. Plus, I had been out late last night at a ballroom outside of Washington D.C., swing dancing (yea, imagine me swing dancing, I've done all sorts of... unique things this year, as you can probably get from reading my past blog entries). Also, I was fairly hungry from not eating much this morning. I thought it worked out great that I planned for today to be an easier running day.
I ran 14 laps on the track (about 3.5 miles) in 26:08. Here are some of the splits I remember running.
- 1/4 mile - 1:53
- 1/2 mile - 3:39ish
3/4 mile - 5:27
- 1 mile - 7:33
- 1.25 miles - 9:21ish
- 1.75 miles - 13:08
- 2 miles - 15:07 (same 7:33 pace as the first mile :)
- 2.25 miles - 17:07
- 2.75 miles - 20:45
3 miles - 22:30 (started to pick it up a bit there).
3.5 miles - 26:08
The first half of the run was about 13:08 and the second half was about 13:00. That's not too bad at all. I hope you all continue to enjoy the weekend!
